Faultline was started by Mission Blue Studio owner Ryan McJunkin, and is a 6000 sq ft art facility that offers studio and event rentals, workshops, drawing groups, and gallery exhibitions.

The whole shop is designed to be efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly, with the main focus being on panel production. We can also make small panels in a fraction of the time it used to take us, and the angles are just about perfect. In fact, we added a whole new line of 1″ deep panels that are perfect for the smaller sizes. We are also planning to make limited batches of panels from salvaged wood, that will vary in appearance, dimensions, and price from our standard lines.

the new Mission Blue Studio

Mission Blue Studio is moving from the Compound Gallery to a new 1200 sq ft space on High Street and the 88o Freeway in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. The new space is being built out and should be ready next week. The new MBS is inside a larger 6000 sq ft art space with screen printing equipment, an art gallery and event space with 18 ft walls, a beautiful natural light life drawing area, and studio rentals for artists.

I’m super excited to put the shop together and invest in some really nice tools that will help us improve the quality of our panels and canvas while speeding up production times. We will also be expanding our inventory to improve workflow even more.

We will be moving December 1st, and will be back up to speed in January.

A recent panel, this one is covered with canvas. This makes a great surface for painters that like the texture of canvas, but want a firm support.
